What is Handwriting Studio?
Handwriting Studio is a short-term, individualized handwriting program designed to improve legibility, efficiency, and confidence over 8 private sessions. Each child follows a personalized plan created by an occupational therapist based on their specific handwriting needs.

How is this different from ongoing occupational therapy?
Handwriting Studio is time-limited and skill-focused. Rather than open-ended therapy, this program has a clear structure, defined goals, and a planned endpoint. It’s designed for children who need targeted handwriting support, not long-term therapy services.

Who is a good fit for this program?

Handwriting Studio is ideal for children who:

  • Have messy or inconsistent handwriting

  • Struggle with spacing, letter size, or staying on the line

  • Tire easily or rush through written work

  • Avoid writing or feel frustrated by it

When is Handwriting Studio?
Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5pm

We open additional studio spots during Spring and Summer Break.

What ages do you work with?
Handwriting Studio typically serves elementary-aged children, generally ages 6–12. If you’re unsure whether your child is a good fit, we’re happy to help you decide.

What happens in the first session?
The first session includes a handwriting assessment and baseline writing sample. We look at:

  • Pencil grasp and posture

  • Letter formation and spacing

  • Writing endurance and efficiency

  • Visual motor and visual perceptual skills

  • Manual dexterity

This information is used to create a personalized handwriting plan for the remaining sessions.

How long are the sessions?
Each session is approximately 50 minutes and includes motor warm-up, instruction, guided practice, and functional writing activities.

Will my child get homework?
We provide optional, short home practice (usually 5 minutes or less per day). The goal is consistency without overwhelming families.

Will I see progress in 8 sessions?
Most children show measurable improvement in legibility, spacing, and confidence over the course of the program. Families receive before-and-after writing samples and a written progress summary at the end.

Do you use a specific handwriting curriculum?
We use evidence-based handwriting principles and adapt instruction to each child. The focus is on how your child writes, not just what they practice.

Is this covered by insurance?
Handwriting Club is a private-pay program and is typically not billed through insurance unless your child qualifies for a dysgraphia label (ICD-10: F81.81.)

What happens after the program ends?
After the final session, families meet with their child's OT on Zoom to review progress and recommendations for next steps. Some children transition back to school-based supports, while others benefit from occasional check-ins.

How do I get started?
To enroll, contact us to schedule an intake or ask questions. We’ll help determine whether Handwriting Studio is the right fit for your child.

How much does HANDWRITING STUDIO cost?
This group $1,800 for 8 sessions (Includes assessment, materials, and feedback meeting). We do not offer a daily rate. Your registration is complete when payment is made by credit card via our client portal. Your payment includes a $100 non-refundable deposit.
